Black River Falls Man Sentenced for High Speed Chase in Jackson County

A Black River Falls man was sentenced for a high speed chase in Jackson County Court.

Back in January of 2025, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver on US Highway 12 in the Township of Brockway. As a deputy made contact, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was pursued and further poor driving was observed. The vehicle eventually crashed in a wooded area and the driver was taken into custody. The driver was treated at a hospital for injuries relating to the crash. The driver was identified as Wayne Withers of Black River Falls. 

Withers pleaded guilty to 6th OWI and 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety. Another charge was dismissed on the court’s own motion and two other charges were dismissed and read in.

He was sentenced to 18 months in state prison and 24 months of extended supervision. His license was also revoked for 36 months and he must have an ignition interlock device for 36 months.
