City of Marshfield Reminding Residents of Proper Placement of Trash and Recycling Carts
Monday, March 9th, 2026 -- 11:00 AM
The City of Marshfield is reminding residents about proper placement of trash and recycling carts to help ensure efficient collection by the City’s contracted waste and recycling service provider.
Residents should follow these placement guidelines when setting carts out for pickup:
- Place carts curbside the night before collection or before 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.
- Leave at least 5 feet of space between carts and other objects, including mailboxes, vehicles, trees, or the second cart.
- Position the cart with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels facing your home.
Proper placement allows the automated collection arm on the service truck to safely lift and empty the carts.
For residents using alley service:
- Place carts on the west side of the alley.
- In one-way alleys, carts should be placed on the right (passenger) side of the alley.
These guidelines are included in the 2026 City of Marshfield Residential Trash and Recycling Program brochure, available for download here. Residents are encouraged to keep the brochure for reference throughout the year.
