Sunburst Memorials, an employee-owned memorial company and part of Scipi Companies, announced that it has acquired Marshfield Monument, a long-standing memorial provider based in Marshfield, WI.
The acquisition strengthens Sunburst Memorials’ growing regional footprint while preserving a business that has served families for more than a century. Founded in 1895, Marshfield Monument has been a trusted part of its community for generations, helping families create meaningful memorials through skilled craftsmanship and personal service.
Sunburst Memorials plans to continue that tradition while supporting long-term stability and growth for employee-owners, customers, and local partners. “Marshfield Monument has built a remarkable legacy grounded in quality, compassion, and care for families,” said Jill Kampa, President of Sunburst Memorials.
“Our goal is to honor what makes Marshfield special while providing additional resources, technology, and support that allow the team to keep serving families for generations to come.”
The acquisition aligns with Sunburst Memorials’ broader growth strategy, which includes recent expansion across the Midwest and continued investment in manufacturing capacity and infrastructure.
The company’s new headquarters and production facility in St. Cloud is designed to nearly double annual production capability while maintaining the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define memorial work.
“When I began considering the future of Marshfield Monument, it was important to find a partner whose values truly aligned with ours,” said Brian Hopperdietzel, Owner of Marshfield Monument.
“In Sunburst, I found that. Their longevity and people-first philosophy reflect the same principles that have guided me for 37 years, that without dedicated employees and a strong community, there isn’t a company."
"I’ve had the privilege of serving tens of thousands of families, one at a time, and it mattered to me that the next chapter would continue that same level of care and attention for every family, regardless of the size of the project. I’m confident Sunburst shares that commitment.”
Marshfield Monument, along with Brian Hopperdietzel in a consulting role, will continue serving families from its South Central Avenue storefront, where it has been a trusted part of the community for generations.
Its legacy of personalized design, custom memorial options, and commitment to quality aligns naturally with Sunburst Memorials’ approach to helping families create lasting tributes.
Sunburst Memorials emphasizes a people-first philosophy grounded in employee ownership, craftsmanship, and long-term relationships with the communities it serves.
Throughout the integration process, the company is committed to supporting a smooth transition for customers and the community while honoring the relationships and service standards families have come to trust at Marshfield Monument.
“This is about stewardship as much as growth,” said Todd Rothfork, Sales Director of Sunburst Memorials. “Memorial work is deeply personal. We believe in meeting families where they are, listening carefully, and helping them create something meaningful that stands the test of time.”
Sunburst Memorials currently serves families across multiple states through a network of retail locations and dealers. The acquisition of Marshfield Monument reflects the company’s continued focus on partnering with independent memorial businesses whose values align with its commitment to quality, integrity, and service.
For families, customers, and partners, day-to-day operations at Marshfield Monument will remain consistent, with expanded resources and support available through the broader Sunburst Memorials network.
