(Tom Loucks/City of Marshfield, Communications Director with the City of Marshfield) Following voter approval of the City’s public safety referendum in 2025, the City of Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department has added additional staffing to support emergency response services.
According to Tom Loucks, Communications Director with the City of Marshfield, Jonathon Pangborn is among the recruits hired as part of that staffing expansion. Pangborn is currently enrolled in the paramedic program at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.
He previously completed his EMT and Fire I certifications through NTC. Under the department’s Track 2 program, candidates are employed while completing advanced certification requirements.
During this period, they train alongside full-time personnel and respond to calls consistent with their current licensure. “Everyone from the lowest guy to the chief himself has been super happy to work with us and teach us the ropes,” Pangborn said
As part of his training progression, Pangborn now responds to medical calls as an EMT and assists on engine responses. The paramedic program at NTC is approximately one year in length.
Upon earning National Registry certification and becoming a licensed paramedic, he will transition to the Department's Track 1 status and begin his probationary year working 24-hour shifts “Happy to be here and to serve the citizens of Marshfield and surrounding areas,” Pangborn said.
