Aspirus Health Reaches Construction Milestone at New Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic

Aspirus Health reached a major construction milestone this week as large, prefabricated sections of its new Aspirus Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic were lifted into place by crane and set within the building footprint.

Work crews installed Emergency Department modules and roof cassettes during the first half of the week, followed by clinic modules and additional roof components later in the week.

About 30 percent of the building was fabricated offsite and is being integrated with traditionally built components. This hybrid modular approach is being led by The Boldt Company as construction manager and onsite lead, with Boldt serving as the industrialized construction partner.

HGA is the project architect. The prefabricated modules arrive complete, unlike the adjacent traditionally constructed portions of the building where framing and drywall work are still underway.

Each module is fully painted and includes installed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, along with casework and select specialty features.

“The arrival and placement of these key components are an exciting milestone for this project,” said Anne Sadowska, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus WI Northwest Division.

“We know that the greatest possible impact we can make for the Chippewa community is to open this hospital and clinic as soon as possible and restore local access to the vital services we will provide.”

The new hospital and clinic are being built on a 22‑acre greenfield site and is designed to expand access to high‑quality care close to home. Once complete it will offer primary care, emergency services, inpatient care, laboratory services, and imaging.

“By intentionally combining traditional construction with modular and prefabricated components, we’re able to shorten the overall schedule and deliver a high‑quality facility sooner,” said Nathan Ceder, Project Executive with The Boldt Company.

The approach allows for controlled manufacturing conditions, reduced on‑site congestion, and improved schedule reliability while supporting faster delivery of essential healthcare services.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in September 2026.
