Thursday, February 5th, 2009 -- 11:41 AM
A Neillsville man on the state's list of most wanted sex offenders has been apprehended after a multi-state crime spree.Deputies arrested David La Franchi, 54, of Neillsville, Wednesday morning, according to Teller County, Colorado, Sheriff's Deputy Mikel Baker.
Records indicate La Franchi operated under a number of aliases. He was convicted in 1991 of 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Then, in 2004, Clark County issued an arrest warrant when he failed to report as a sex offender.
La Franchi went on a multi-state crime spree using a number of stolen identities, including an identity of a Colorado man who died. On Monday, the 'Wisconsin's' Sex Offender Apprehension and Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Team alerted Teller County that La Franchi was in the area.
La Franchi is being held without bond and is awaiting a court date, Baker says.
Wisconsin will seek extradition back to Clark County so La Franchi can face multiple felony charges and possible federal charges.
