Thorp FCCLA Students Compete in Regional STAR Competition
Friday, February 20th, 2026 -- 12:00 PM
On Wednesday, February 4, thirty-eight Thorp FCCLA members competed in their Regional STAR competition at UW-Stout.
STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events can range anywhere from cupcake decorating to event management to sports nutrition to personal finance. Students spent months preparing their projects. There are extensive rubrics they follow and they worked hard to bring their best projects to the judges.
All of the 38 competitors came home with either a silver or gold and 35 scored high enough to qualify to move on to compete at the state level in April. Students who qualified for state are able to take the judges feedback and improve their projects in hopes of then qualifying for national competition.
