One Person Has Died After Late January Truck vs Snow Plow Crash in the Town of Withee

One person is dead after the pickup truck they were driving was involved in a crash on STH 29 west of Fisher Ave in the town of Withee.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash at about 7:58 AM, on Tuesday January 27th , 2026. Initial investigation indicates that a pickup truck was west bound on STH 29, west of Sterling Ave when it lost control and entered the median.

The pickup truck started to spin, crossed the median and entered the east bound lanes of traffic. The pickup truck was struck by an east bound St. Croix County dump truck. Both the pickup and dump truck came to rest in the inside lane of the east bound traffic lanes.

The pickup driver, Eric Evenstad, 59 years old, was ejected from his vehicle and transported to the Stanley Aspirus Hospital. On the afternoon of Saturday February 7 th 2026, Eric died as a result of his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was the sole occupant in the pickup truck.

The dump truck driver had non-life threatening injuries. The Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Thorp Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The investigation of the crash is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Clark County Coroner’s Office and State Patrol.
