Saturday, February 14th, 2026 -- 8:00 AM

Marathon County has released a request for proposals for redevelopment of the buildings currently occupied by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) at Wausau Campus.

With UWSP at Wausau scheduled to relocate to the Northcentral Technical College (NTC) campus later this year, Marathon County is beginning the process of determining the future use of these facilities, with the goal of transferring ownership at year’s end.

“We recognize the deep history and significance these building hold for our community,” shared Chris Holman, Deputy County Administrator of Public Works and Capital Projects for Marathon County.

“The RFP process has been thoughtfully designed to foster collaboration and invite innovative ideas that will ensure these spaces continue to service our community in meaningful ways.”

The campus is comprised of five parcels with seven buildings:

  • Main Campus Building – 518 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
  • Center for Civic Engagement – 625 Stewart Avenue, Wausau
  • Fieldhouse – 608 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
  • Marathon Hall – 615 Garfield Avenue, Wausau
  • (New) East Arts Building – Building A, 620 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
  • (Old) West Arts Building – Building A, 620 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
  • Central Heating Plant – 630 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau

Proposals are due by March 31, 2026. Interested parties are encouraged to attend a community meet-and-greet event on Thursday, February 19, 2026, beginning at 5:30 PM at Marathon County’s Lake View Conference Center, 1000 Lake View Drive (Enter Door 31), Wausau WI 54403, intended to facilitate connections and collaboration.

In addition, all proposers must participate in a mandatory campus walkthrough, which will be held on March 3, 2026. The full RFP is available online at www.marathoncounty.gov/rfps.

The final selection of proposals will be made by the Marathon County Board of Supervisors at a future meeting.
