Wood County Investigators Asking for the Public’s Help to Identify Suspects Who Shot a Home in the Town of Rudolph

Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 -- 5:00 PM

(Sean White & Kassandra Sepeda, WSAU) Wood County investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects who shot a home more than 10 times on Jan. 7, leaving three adults and an infant inside unharmed but shaken.

According to Sean White & Kassandra Sepeda with WSAU, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 5400 block of State Highways 13 and 34 in the town of Rudolph. Investigators found bullet casings, likely from a handgun, in a wood line just south of the home.

Wood County investigators believe the people who targeted the home know who lives there. They also believe someone drove the shooter to the location. Lt. Scott Goldberg of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department said identifying the vehicle involved has been difficult due to the dark and foggy weather that night.

After the shooting, the suspects traveled back toward the Wisconsin Rapids area. “That social media piece, whether that be a message or a video, that can be put into the Crime Stoppers app,” Goldberg said.

“We believe that information is likely out there, whether that be actual physical evidence of the shooting taking place, like a video, pictures, or communication about it.”

Investigators say there is likely evidence on social media that they have not yet received. They have received numerous tips and are now looking for any physical or video evidence someone may have.

The case is being investigated as a potential attempted homicide, which could lead to a reward. Goldberg said the shooting is extremely reckless, given the suspects had no regard for human life, and said investigators will never tolerate gun violence in the community.

Wood County investigators say what took place is disgusting. Anyone with information about this crime can contact Wood County Crime Stoppers through the P3 app, by calling 1-877-325-7867, or by submitting a tip online.

Tips can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
