Wausau Woman Reaches Plea Deal in Child Neglect Case

Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 -- 4:00 PM

(Justin Betti, WAOW) A Wausau woman has reached a plea deal in a child neglect case.

According to Justin Betti with WAOW, Brittany Hull, 33, appeared in court for a plea hearing on Monday morning. Hull pleaded no contest to chronic neglect of a child with the consequence of great bodily harm. A charge of child abuse with the intent to cause great bodily harm was dismissed but read in.

Her partner, Tristan Hull, faced related charges. He pleaded guilty to one count of chronic child neglect as part of a plea deal and received a sentence of four years in prison followed by four years of extended release, with credit for about two years already served.

The couple was initially charged in December 2023. Investigators reported that they limited a 15-year-old girl's food and water intake, claiming it was part of a special diet for an “undiagnosed medical condition.”

Doctors discovered the girl weighed only 58 pounds when hospitalized, with her organs beginning to fail due to being severely underweight. Since her rescue, court records show the girl has gained weight and her health has improved.

A pre-sentencing investigation for Brittany Hull is due to be completed no later than March 20.
