LOYAL, GRANTON FOOTBALL CO-OP CONTINUES
Thursday, January 29th, 2009 -- 11:38 AM
Loyal and Granton will continue to join forces on the football field for the next two years. The Loyal School Board approved the co-op on a 5-2 vote last night.
The board also fielded some complaints from parents who feel the district policy of having 5th and 6th graders serve detention during the lunch hour is too severe.
Superintendent Graeme Williams says 5th and 6th graders currently serve detention for 15 minutes at the beginning of the lunch break. Some parents feel that unnecessarily cuts into their lunchtime.
There was lengthy discussion about the policy last night, and the board plans to address the issue next month.
The board also set up an informational meeting about the upcoming revenue cap exemption referendum. It will be February 9th at 7:30 p.m. in the Elementary Gym.
The referendum would allow the school board to exceed the state-imposed revenue cap by $500,000 for three years. It will be decided on April 7th.
