NEILLSVILLE COUNCIL TO MEET

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 -- 11:24 AM

The Neillsville City Council will hear from citizens tonight (Tuesday).

They?ll hold a public hearing on a recommended zoning change for the property at 409 W. Division Street (USH 10).

The USH 10 property is currently zoned ?R-1 Residential,? but its owners would like it changed to ?General Commercial.?

According to the minutes of a recent Planning Commission meeting, Mayor Diane Murphy and her son, Mike, recently purchased the property.

Mike would like to construct a new building and move his All Seasons Sports and Archery business out of the downtown. Mayor Murphy plans to renovate the existing house and use the first floor for her accounting business.

The public hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Also tonight, the Council might approve a ?Master Street Plan,? described as a ?wish list? of potential projects. The map includes moving USH 10 south of the city limits, across the Black River, eventually meeting up with the existing USH 10 just west of town.

The map also recommends STH 73 move a block to the east so it meets up with Hewett Street. Other ideas include the extension of Nelson Avenue from Ridge Road to STH 73 just north of town.

If approved, the map doesn?t mean these projects will be imminent, but the ideas could be used as the city and Wisconsin DOT plan future highway projects.
