Neillsville School Board Approves Course Catalog, Summer School Class Schedule, and More

The Neillsville School Board heard a building project update by Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer to begin their meeting on Monday.
The Board also approved the open enrollment program limits, approved the 2026-2027 High School In-House Course Catalog, and approved the 2026 summer school class schedule.
The Board also approved the annual safety drill report, approved an early graduation request, and approved the 2026 Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce membership renewal.
The Board also approved the one-time supplemental payment of $60 to bus drivers for bus heater plug in reimbursement. The Board also approved some donations including coupons from Just Love Coffee and the $500 monetary donation from Aspirus Health for the HALT Program.
In employment matters, the board approved the resignations of:
- Wren Eliasson from her high school English teaching position with no contract termination fee,
- Dave Matson from his varsity baseball coaching position,
- And Michael Gaier from his middle school/high school assistant cross country coaching position as presented.
The Board approved the hiring of:
- Shirley Tritz for the 7-hour food service assistant position,
- Meghan Force for the 7-hour food service assistant position,
- Kim Crutchfield for the middle school special education teaching position,
- Jessica Brown for the high school English teaching position and paying her contract termination fee in the amount of $2,000,
- Adam Kren for the varsity golf coaching position,
- And Jason Kurth for the varsity baseball coaching position.
The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:
- Attendance;
- Monthly character trait;
- Report cards;
- Data meetings;
- Hydroponic garden;
- Field trips;
- 4K program information;
- Parent teacher conferences;
- Updated math and reading programs;
- And lunch with a loved one scheduled for February 13th.
Middle School Principal Jesse Bernhagen reported on
- Attendance;
- A 6th grade social studies learning activity;
- Small group interventions;
- A week without Chromebooks;
- An internet safety presentation;
- A students vs. staff basketball challenge;
- And ACP switch day.
District Administrator Corey Peterson shared High School Principal Jennifer Aspenson’s report on:
- Enrollment;
- The updated HS course handbook;
- Mix it up day;
- ACP portfolio presentations;
- ACP night;
- And the FFA district speaking contest.
Transportation Director Adam Krause reported on:
- Bus heater plug in reimbursement;
- The current number of drivers;
- The remodel of the breakroom and bathroom in the bus garage;
- Cabinetry options for parts storage;
- A work order program to track hours worked on each bus;
- Designating a fab area, wash bay, and service area in the bus garage;
- Finalizing the purchase of a tablet for the Lynx program;
- And students performing oil changes and tire rotations on district vans.
Finally, Mr. Peterson reported on:
- A thank you note;
- The upcoming state education convention;
- Crystal Apple Awards Ceremony to honor Becca Bernhagen and Adam Smrcka;
- The district’s social media report card;
- An update on the 2026-2027 4K program;
- An article on statewide property taxes;
- And the 2024-2025 school audit summary.
