Wood County Sheriff's Department Announces New Therapy Dog
Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 -- 12:00 PM
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is excited to announce the addition of a therapy dog, RIPP.
Ripp is assigned to SRO Deputy Jesse Nehls. This is a great addition to the Sheriff’s Department and the Auburndale School District. Their service to the school district will enhance the positive relationship and partnership they have with the school district. Sheriff Shawn Becker stated, “RIPP fits in perfectly with the mental health initiatives the Sheriff Department has committed to the past several years.”
Auburndale Superintendent Steven Van Whye stated, "The School District of Auburndale has already experienced many benefits of the SRO partnership since it started earlier this school year. We believe adding Ripp will add even more value to Deputy Nehls's presence. We are appreciative to the Wood County Sheriff's Department for making this a possibility."
