Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride Program Hoping to Launch in May

Friday, January 16th, 2026 -- 10:00 AM

A new community initiative is hitting the road to make transportation more accessible for residents of all ages and abilities.

Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride is hoping to launch in May 2026, aiming to expand mobility options for individuals in Wood County and surrounding areas who need reliable transportation for healthcare, employment, education, and essential services.

The initiative is a partnership between the Wood County Health Department and Feonix Mobility Rising’s Catch a Ride Network, with additional support by a group from Leadership Marshfield Class of 2025.

Together, these partners are working to build a sustainable, affordable transportation solution that meets the growing mobility needs of the community. “The idea to bring this service to the area stemmed from community conversations and data regarding transportation gaps across central Wisconsin."

"According to the 2024 Wood County Community Health Assessment, 28 percent of more than 3,200 respondents missed work, medical appointments, or other important events in the past year due to lack of transportation."

"That data and community feedback clearly signify the need for expanded services. By coordinating local providers, Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride can help fill those gaps and ensure reliable transportation for all.”

The program’s mission centers on increasing awareness, strengthening local partnerships, and raising the funds needed to grow and maintain the service long-term.

By collaborating with community leaders and organizations, Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride hopes to create a transportation network that ensures no resident is left without access to essential destinations.

Community members are encouraged to follow and share the Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride Facebook page to stay updated on progress, events, and opportunities to get involved. Together, the partners behind Catch a Ride believe that small contributions, whether time, funding, or advocacy, can add up to meaningful change.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to help get this program started, donations can be made online through Marshfield Area Community Foundation or by mailing a check payable to Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc., with “Central Wisconsin Catch a Ride” in the memo line.
