Marshfield Man Facing Charges of Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking

Monday, January 12th, 2026 -- 1:01 PM

(Justin Betti, WAOW & WISN) A Marshfield man is facing serious charges after allegedly trafficking an autistic woman in December, according to Justin Betti with WAOW and WISN.

According to the complaint acquired by WISN in Milwaukee, the 18-year-old woman, who was living in a Madison mental health facility, left against medical advice on Dec. 16.

She was later found at a motel in Greenfield with Brian Matt, 37, who reportedly manipulated her due to her cognitive challenges. The complaint states Matt coerced the woman into sexual acts by claiming she owed him for an Uber ride.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman operates at a third-grade cognition level and was unable to consent to sex. Detectives discovered Matt had a non-felony warrant in Ozaukee County.

He allegedly rented the motel room under a false name to avoid detection. Matt is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of human trafficking.

The investigation revealed he also forced the woman to snort cocaine and sexually assaulted her multiple times. Greenfield police arrested Matt after he made threats of "suicide by cop."

He was taken to a hospital after ingesting a large number of pills. Methamphetamine was found in the motel room.
