MORE DISCUSSION ON AGRIBUSINESS PARK
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 -- 10:27 AM
Plans for an agribusiness park near Owen are moving forward?slowly. The committee overseeing the Clark County Health Care Center met with the Clark County Economic Development Committee Monday, trying to hammer out an agreement.
The CCHCC controls about 150 acres developers would like to turn into a one-of-a-kind park that would include agribusinesses and researchers.
While the two sides appear to agree on covenants that would protect the Health Care Center, they are having difficulty agreeing on a sales price for the land.
Owen Mayor Tim Swiggum would prefer the county sell the land to the city for the fair market value of $2,800 per acre, but says the Health Care Center sub-committee is proposing $4,000 per acre.
The two sides will meet again in two weeks.
