City of Marshfield Taking Important Next Step for Police Department Relocation and Renovation Project

Monday, December 22nd, 2025 -- 10:01 AM

(By Tom Loucks/Communications Director) The City of Marshfield is taking an important next step in the Police Department Relocation and Renovation Project by releasing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Construction Management (CM) services.

According to Tom Loucks, Communications Director with the City of Marshfield, the project will transform a donated former office building into a modern police headquarters, including interior renovations, a building addition, and a large enclosed police vehicle garage.

This approach allows the City to repurpose an existing structure while investing in a facility designed to meet current and future public safety needs. The City has committed $10 million to the project and is also pursuing up to $2 million in state grant funding to support additional features or an expanded scope.

A construction manager will work alongside the City and project architect to oversee scheduling, cost control, bidding, and coordination throughout construction. All construction work will be competitively bid in accordance with Wisconsin public-bid laws.

Proposals for construction management services are due in January, with City review and potential approval scheduled for early February. Additional updates will be shared as the project progresses.

This project reflects the City’s continued commitment to public safety, fiscal responsibility, and thoughtful use of community resources.
