(Heather Poltrock, WSAW) A Medford woman has been sentenced for OWI and leading police on a pursuit.
According to Heather Poltrock with WSAW, earlier this year, officers attempted to locate Kallie Gajewski due to suspicion that she had violated a no-contact order. Officers located Gajewski’s vehicle on State Highway 97 in Taylor County.
The officer initiated a traffic stop near Plisch Street and W. Village Limit Road. The officer said as he got out of his vehicle, the driver accelerated and left the scene. According to court documents, the driver reached speeds of 75 mph in a 25 mph zone.
The vehicle turned west on Townline Road from County Road M and reached speeds of 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle made its way into Marathon County. The driver later turned into a driveway on Schweizer Road. The pursuit lasted nearly 18 miles.
Once stopped, the officer learned Gajewski’s license was revoked for OWI non-compliance due to four previous convictions. The vehicle Gajewski was driving was required to have an interlock device, which it did not.
The officer noted an open bottle of liquor on the floor on the passenger side. Gajewski was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 5th/6th OWI and vehicle operator flee/elude an officer.
Several other charges were dismissed and read in. She was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 2 years of extended supervision.
