Friday, December 12th, 2025 -- 8:01 AM
Property owners in the City of Marshfield whose land borders or contains public sidewalks, curb ramps, or outwalks must keep these areas clear and safe during the winter season.
All snow and ice must be removed from the entire width and length of the sidewalk within 48 hours of its fall or accumulation. Snow that drifts back onto the sidewalk or ice that forms from melting and refreezing must also be addressed. Owners are required to:

- Prevent any snow or ice from remaining for more than 48 hours
If a sidewalk is not cleared within the required 48-hour period, the Street Superintendent (or designee) may arrange for immediate removal or treatment. This may occur repeatedly to maintain safe conditions. Property owners will be billed for these services. Minimum charges include:
- $75 for parcels with 200 feet or less of sidewalk.
- $90 for parcels with more than 200 feet of sidewalk + $25.00 for each curb ramp or outwalk.
- $40 Administrative Fee.
For owners with four or more contiguous vacant lots, the minimum charge for removal is:
- $300 plus one administrative charge.
