Neillsville School Board Approves Academic and Career Plan and Other Items

The Neillsville School Board approved the Academic and Career Plan at their meeting on Monday.
They approved the Redefining Ready Annual Report and heard a building project update presented by Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer. The Board also approved increasing athletic officials’ pay to $50 per MS contest and $75 per HS contest and approved the Warrior Strength Club student club application.
The Board also approved some donations including Subway cookie coupons from Subway of Neillsville, the donation from Cindy Boon to the KIC Club and the give and take tree, the donation of puberty talk items from Unity Bank.
In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Alex Bloch from his assistant high school football coaching position and Chris Poeschel from his assistant high school football coaching position.
The Board approved the hiring of Robert Randolph for the custodial position, Rhonda Pernsteiner for the teaching assistant position, Amy Hopfer for the ASL Interpreter position, Bridget Canfield for the assistant high school track coach, and Alex Bloch for the winter weight room supervisor.
The Board also approved the revised letter of appointment for Melody Clemens, Anastasia-Stacee Dawson, and Julia Hederer. Finally, the Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding for Kari Mayer.
The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:
- Attendance;
- Monthly character trait;
- Elementary student council;
- End of quarter celebration;
- Veterans’ Day;
- The annual Department of Corrections Veterans’ Recognition Ceremony at the Highground;
- Phy ed swimming;
- And winter concerts.
Middle School Principal Jesse Bernhagen reported on:
- Attendance;
- End of the first quarter;
- October homeroom challenge;
- Choir concert;
- Veterans’ Day;
- Red Ribbon Week;
- Holiday stories for WCCN;
- 8th grade STEM class project;
- Student council food drive;
- Winter sports;
- And upcoming holiday concerts.
High School Principal Jennifer Aspenson reported on:
- Enrollment;
- School report card highlights;
- Jodi Stokdyk’s presentation at the World Languages Expo;
- Julia Backaus’ presentation at the Wisconsin School Counselors Association Conference;
- UW-Eau Claire Honors Band;
- FFA activities;
- HS Choir performances;
- And HS Band performances.
Transportation Director Adam Krause reported on:
- Two new sub bus drivers;
- One new van sub driver;
- Bus garage cleaning and organization;
- And feedback on the Lynx tablet.
Finally District Administrator Corey Peterson reported on:
- Thank you cards;
- Veterans’ Day Ceremony;
- 2024-2025 School Report Cards;
- 2026-2027 4K planning;
- New Wisconsin cell phone legislation;
- And 2026 WASB Convention.
