Wisconsin Farmers Made Strong Progress in Mid-November Thanks to Favorable Weather

(Blake Jackson, Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin farmers made strong progress in mid-November as favorable weather created good conditions for field activities.

According to Blake Jackson with the Wisconsin Ag Connection, for the week ending November 16, 2025, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork statewide, allowing producers to continue wrapping up fall operations.

Dry conditions persisted across much of Wisconsin, with temperatures remaining at or above seasonal averages, supporting steady advancement in harvest and tillage work.

Row crop harvest was nearing completion, and many growers were focused on tillage and manure applications while the weather remained cooperative. Soil moisture levels showed some ongoing dryness concerns.

Topsoil moisture was rated 10 percent very short, 34 percent short, and 56 percent adequate, with no surplus reported. Subsoil moisture conditions were similar, rated 10 percent very short, 30 percent short, 59 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

Corn for grain harvest reached 86 percent complete, running about three days ahead of the state’s five-year average. The moisture content of harvested corn averaged 18 percent, aligning with typical levels for this point in the season.

Soybean harvest was nearly finished, with 98 percent of the crop harvested statewide. Winter wheat continued to develop well under the favorable conditions, with 87 percent of the crop emerged.
