Margie: "Our donation period goes currently until December 2, through Tuesday, December 2. We collect new, unwrapped toys. We have numerous locations throughout the Neillsville community, Marshfield community, Colby, some in Greenwood, Pittsville, Stratford, so we have them throughout the whole area."
"The locations where you can drop off toys are listed on our Facebook page and on our website. Our Toys for Tots website, buy a toy, drop it in the box, and then we take those toys and we distribute them to the kids throughout the North Wood County and Clark County communities."
Riley: "Can you talk about the distribution dates?"
Margie: "So, we distribute our toys beginning Friday, December 5, and then we go Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, the sixth, eighth and ninth. Those dates and times are also listed on our Facebook page and on our website."
"How the distribution works, parents come, we don't allow children, so the parents come to the distribution site, which is in Marshfield, and they fill out a very simple application, give us the information, and then we walk them through our toy room and they pick out toys for each of their children."
"We do have toys for children, babies through age 18, so we go all the way up to age 18 for our program. Then we allow them to pick out approximately, and we don't always know this until the distribution time gets closer, but approximately three toys per child, we just walk them through. They pick out their toys and they or their items, whatever it is, and send them on their way with some wrapping paper so they have that for their for their Christmas day as well."
Riley: "And we should point out that they do not pre-register, correct?"
Margie: "We do not do pre-registration for our program. Everything is just done the day of. So, they will come that day and they will need to bring a photo ID and they will need to bring a piece of mail showing their current address, so we know that they reside in our area."
Riley: "If people want to find more information or if they have any questions, where's the best place for them to go to do that?"
Margie: "A lot of our information is on the website. You can also get to that site just by going to the national Toys for Tots website and then clicking on North Wood County or Clark County, Wisconsin. And then we also have a Facebook page."
"So, all of the information are in those two locations, everything that they need to know. We also have a Toys for Tots phone number, which is 715-600-3303, that phone number is not manned all day long. So if they don't get a person, they can leave a message and we will call them back."
Riley: "Anything else you'd like to add?"
Margie: "As far as the distribution goes, if you know of anybody that needs help with toys for their children this year, send them out to our distribution days. The first day, which is Friday, December 5, is always our busiest. So, if people can honestly avoid going that day, there is a very long wait line that day, but we have plenty of toys to get us through all four of the distribution days."
"Again, we do not allow them to bring their children. This is for parents to walk through and get toys for their kids. So, we do not allow kids at the distribution site. So, yeah, it's a pretty easy process. They just show up there and and with their proper information. And it's pretty simple."
