The Highground Veterans Memorial Holds Special Open House for Veterans Day

Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 -- 3:00 PM

The Highground proudly hosted an open house on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, welcoming veterans and their families from 10am to 4 pm.

The event offered guests an opportunity to explore museum exhibits, share camaraderie and enjoy refreshments in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Local students from Auburndale, Abbotsford and Columbus Catholic shared heartfelt appreciation with handmade thank you cards and messages for attending veterans.

The Highground Museum was honored to celebrate the courage, service and sacrifice of all who have served in the United States Armed Forces, while proudly displaying the new “WWII Bomb Crew and Atomic Veterans” exhibit.

“We’re deeply grateful to our veterans and thrilled to have shared this special day with them,” said Amber Smith, The Highground event coordinator. “Their stories and service are the foundation of our nation’s history, and it’s our privilege to honor them.”
