Chili Fire Department Uses Grant to Purchase Equipment

Last summer, the Chili Fire Department was honored to be one of just five volunteer fire departments nationwide awarded a $5,000 grant from Nutella® through its Stacks for Giving Back program, in partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC).

The grant allowed them to purchase Rescue 42 stabilization struts, lightweight cribbing blocks, and high vis vests; critical tools for responding to vehicle and agricultural extrication incidents.

Their previous equipment was over 15 years old, heavy, and required 3–4 firefighters to deploy. The new gear can be operated by just 1–2 responders, improving safety and speed especially important for a rural department like Chili, where first crews on scene are often small.

The Department is incredibly grateful to Nutella and the NVFC for this support and to the community, who stands behind them every day.
