(Desiree Fischer, WSAW) Marshfield Clinic patient information may have been leaked after unauthorized access to certain employee email accounts.
According to Desiree Fischer with WSAW, around August 27, Marshfield Clinic became aware of unusual activity in certain employee email accounts. They immediately began an investigation, which determined there was unauthorized access to the accounts between August 26 and August 27. Marshfield Clinic conducted a comprehensive review of the information potentially affected.
The type of information varied by individual but could include name and one or more of the following: address, phone number, date of birth, insurance ID number, medical record number, dates of service, treatment/diagnosis information, lab results, and medications.
If your information was affected, you will receive a letter from Marshfield Clinic. Marshfield Clinic says, out of an abundance of caution, they will be offering free identity monitoring services to people whose information was potentially exposed.
Details about these services will be included in the notification letter. Affected individuals with questions should call the phone number listed in the letter they receive.
In a statement to NewsChannel 7, the Marshfield Clinic region of Sanford Health said, “Protecting our patients’ data and information is a top priority, and we are committed to safeguarding patient data and personal information. We use advanced security measures, monitor for unusual activity, and respond swiftly to potential threats to maintain confidentiality and trust.”
