Clark County Sheriff Department Warns of Scam Phone Calls
Thursday, November 6th, 2025 -- 1:01 PM
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department has received several complaints about potential scam phone calls.
Unfortunately, these calls are extremely common and often come from outside the United States, using “spoofed phone numbers” that appear to be local or familiar.
Here are a few important reminders:
- Do not answer calls from numbers you don’t recognize.
- If it sounds too good to be true- it is!
- If you didn’t sign up for it, you didn’t win it.
- Be extremely cautious; if they are asking for payment through gift card or bit coin machines.
Local law enforcement has a difficult time tracking or tracing scam calls like you see on TV, the technology these scammers use hides their real location. Do not give out personal information (Bank info, Social Security number , etc.) to someone that calls you.
Block the number on your phone or through your phone provider if the calls persist. While it can be frustrating, reporting these calls to the Sheriff’s Office generally won’t stop them, as the calls are not local.
The best protection is staying informed and cautious. Please help spread the word, especially to friends, neighbors, and family members who may be more vulnerable to these scams.
