CLARK CO., STATE JOBLESS RATE GOING UP

Clark County?s unemployment numbers jumped in November.According to Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development figures released this week, 5.2% of Clark County workers were without jobs last month, up 1.2% from October.
The rate was also up about 1% from last November.
Last year, Clark County had the 9th lowest unemployment rate among the state's 72 counties in November; this year, Clark County ranked 27th.
State economist Dennis Winters says, until now, Wisconsin had seen lower jobless rates than other parts of the country. But unemployment in November was higher in all 72 counties. He says the downturn here is broadbased.
