Thursday, October 30th, 2025 -- 2:00 PM

The 46th Annual Alpine Holiday is happening at Columbus Catholic School in Marshfield on November 14th and 15th.

I spoke with Melissa Schmitt, the Director of Giving and Events at Columbus Catholic, and she discussed the many events happening at the Alpine Holiday.

Listen to the interview with Melissa here!

Again, the event is being held on November 14th and 15th at the Columbus Catholic School in Marshfield.

Melissa: "We do have a lot going on. We kick things off on Friday with our famous fish fry at four o'clock. And we also have two bands that evening, one Polka and then Boogie and the Yo-Yos starting at 7:30 and those are both free admission."

"We, of course, have a beer garden and other food options available throughout the night, as well as our craft boutique, which will be in the new gym and field house for the first time, and then the bookstore and coffee shop as well."

"Saturday, we will kick things off with the ugly sweater 5k and fun run that starts at 8:45. The little kids will run in front of the school, and everybody else can do the 5k. We will have face painting, kiddy games, and then we have Main Street Conservatory of Dance, a few other performers, the Columbus Jazz Band, madrigal singers."

"And then Saturday evening, we have Moon Dogs as entertainment. And we're also doing trivia for the first time. So, we'll have teams of two to six people for $50 registration fee and that will go until nine o'clock when we have our grand prize drawing, which is $13,000 cash this year."

Riley: "You mentioned the craft boutique, can you talk about that a bit more?"

Melissa: "So, every year we do the craft boutique, and, like I mentioned, this year, we're doing it in our Fieldhouse for the first time. We have about 60 vendors right now. We still have registration open, so I would assume that will grow a little bit, but I encourage everybody to come down and look at the vendors and the new space as well."

Riley: "And you'll also have some calendar raffle tickets. Can you talk about that?"

Melissa: "We have our 24 days of Christmas raffle calendar for sale now. You can purchase that with the form on the website up until the first drawing that happens at nine o'clock. And so the grand prize kicks it off for $13,000 and then we have a prize every day that will be drawn through the 22nd of December."

Riley: "And another thing I noticed too, that you had on your list of events, is a lip sync competition. Can you kind of talk about that?"

Melissa: "Of course! So, the lip sync is very popular with our students. They will perform a lip sync song in the gym on Saturday night and the beer garden and food will be open during that time. We have a lot of groups registered for that and you can also register for that online. It's very popular every year."

Riley: "And now, if people are interested in perhaps helping out at the event, or maybe they would like to sponsor something or give an in kind donation, how can they go about doing that?"

Melissa: "Well, we are still accepting baskets for our silent auction, as well as our kids raffle. Those could be dropped off at any of the Columbus offices. You can find the information on our website or reach out to me directly, but those are the things that we are accepting, as well as sponsorships. All of the information for that is on the website. And I, of course, encourage anybody to reach out if they have any questions."

Riley: "And then, if people are interested in learning more about the Alpine event coming up in a few weeks, what is the best way for them to do that?"

Melissa: "All of our information is on our school website, columbuscatholicschools.org under News and Events and Alpine Holiday.
