Neillsville City Council Approves Request from the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce

The Neillsville City Council approved a request for the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce at their meeting on Tuesday.

The Council approved a request from the Chamber for use of the Sniteman Town Square Park and Gazebo for the official “Tree Lighting/Santa’s Coming To Town” event for Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Mayor Dewey Poeschel presented an Agreement between the Neillsville School District and the City of Neillsville and the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission for implementation of the Neillsville Safe Routes to School Plan. The Plan was approved by the School Board Monday night.

The Council approved having the Mayor sign the joint “Neillsville Safe Routes to School Plan” Agreement between the Neillsville School District, City of Neillsville and West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. The Council also accepted the recommendation to approve a Letter of Support for a National Water College.

The Council also heard the various committee reports from the past couple weeks. Council Member Dan Clough reported on the October 15, 2025 meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission regarding:

  • Discussion with a citizen on when a Certificate of Appropriateness would be needed for work on their historic property;
  • Update on the 1897 Clark County Jail building;
  • Discussion on the Historic Preservation Commission website status and self-guided Cemetery Tour status;
  • Update on the Murals project;
  • Welcome Ashley Bryan as the new Commission member;
  • And reviewed fund balances.

Council Member Clarissa Rochester presented the October 23, 2025 meeting of the Heritage Days Committee regarding:

  • Financial report;
  • Discussion on grant opportunities;
  • Discussion on contacting bands;
  • Approved retiring City Clerk-Treasurer Rex R. Roehl as the 2026 Grand Marshal;
  • Discussion on tent location;
  • Discussion on and approved sending out sponsorship letters;
  • Discussion on tent rental;
  • And discussion on children’s events.

Council Member Clough reported on the October 28, 2025 meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding:

  • Current activities;
  • Discussion on and recommendation to approve a Letter of Support for a National Water College to train future water and wastewater operators;
  • And payment of bills.
