(Kris Leonhardt, MMC Senior Editor) During its Oct. 28 meeting, the Marshfield Common Council approved the request for qualifications (RFQ) selection team for the Weinbrenner redevelopment project, with one seat remaining to be filled, according to Kris Leonhardt, MMC Senior Editor

“We're coming up to the deadline on Nov. 7 for responses to our recent request for qualifications for the Weinbrenner redevelopment project. So, 10 days out, we'll know what we have,” said Marshfield City Administrator Steve Barg.

“But on Oct. 14, the council did approve a framework for the RFQ selection team, the people who will be reviewing the responses, interviewing candidates as appropriate and then making a recommendation to the full council and the CDA as well."

The framework approved on Oct. 14 included the mayor, three council members, two CDA board members, the city administrator, an economic development consultant, and one individual from the development community.

Barg said that three council members had volunteered (Natasha Tompkins, Scott Koran, Jen Delis) as well as one individual from the CDA (president, Ashley Winch) with one more member needed and two individuals from the development community, Dave Krause and Marsha Bushman.

“So, I think at this point, staff would seek your approval for the team, including the three council members who volunteered and the one CDA board president who's volunteered, with the idea that hopefully you would give grace to the second one, if one is chosen. And then for the final member, you would decide who you want to have between Dave Krause and Marsha Bushman,” Barg added.

Alder Natasha Tomkins recommended an amendment to have both Dave Krause and Marsha Bushman serve on the committee, potentially adding an extra seat. The remaining CDA spot would be held open for a potential second member.

The amendment was approved, 7-1, with Alder Brian Varsho voting “no” and alders, Mike Feirer and Derek Wehrman, absent. The amended motion also passed 7-1, with Varsho voting “no” and Feirer and Wehrman absent.
