A man charged with burglary of a Neillsville business was sentenced in Clark County Court.
In the early morning on October 31st of last year, city police were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Seventh Street in response to an intrusion alarm. Upon arrival, the officers checked the property and found an unlocked door.
There were no signs of forced entry or criminal damage. Later that day, police spoke with the business owner and reviewed the surveillance footage recorded before the alarm was triggered.
It was determined that the business had been unlawfully entered and that an undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen. Following further investigation, the police identified a suspect and conducted an interview. The suspect, Christian A. Doss, confessed to the crime.
During his court appearance on Wednesday, he was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, burglary of a building or dwelling. Another charge was dismissed and read in. He was given a withheld sentence of five years of probation with a condition of six months jail time.
