Main Street Marshfield’s (MSM) new executive director says it’s “an incredible honor” to take over as the next leader of the group.
“I am beyond excited to build and maintain relationships, foster growth for local businesses, and lead community development efforts. I can't wait to continue the legacy of making downtown Marshfield a better place,” says Carter Howe, who joined the organization on October 13th.
The non-profit organization was formed in 1990 by a group of about 40 local business people, professionals and city officials as a not-for-profit, volunteer-centric corporation.
The mission is to energize and strengthen Downtown Marshfield. Howe has relocated from the Fox River Valley to Marshfield. He brings experience in marketing, social media strategies, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and customer relations.
“If my (experience) has taught me anything, it’s the importance of building and maintaining relationships,” Howe says, adding that he’s excited to meet face-to-face with building owners, business owners and other stakeholders. “Developing corporate and community relationships has always been a strong suit of mine.”
Howe hopes to continue to build momentum downtown. He lists developing growth, increasing walkability, and hosting creative events that support businesses and continue the community’s connection to music and the arts as his top goals.
MSM is an accredited organization which is governed by a board of directors and 4 volunteer committees: Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Vitality. They oversee a number of events in the downtown area, including Hub City Days, the Holiday Parade and Halloweek.
