WOOD'S PAST DOCUMENTED

Monday, December 22nd, 2008 -- 8:52 AM

State Rep. Jeff Wood is skewered in an article in today?s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The article by Dan Bice notes Wood has had more problems with drinking than has been reported.

Of course, he was recently arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and possession of marijuana and said the behavior was "not typical".

Two previous drunken-driving convictions have turned up, one in 1990 and another the next year.

But, he was also charged at least three other times in the early '90s for incidents involving alcohol.

In one case, he smashed a wall and cursed at a cop during a brief stay at a detox center?this after he passed out an Eau Claire McDonalds. In another, he was accused of stealing a leather jacket just before exiting a bar.

Prior to that, Wood and a friend were accused in 1989 of having sex with an underage minor they had picked up at a party. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and spent a year on probation.

Wood said it got so bad, he quit drinking?until recently?when he thought he could handle it better.
