Another Chance to Purchase Former Grant Elementary School in Wausau

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) There’s another chance to own Grant Elementary School.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, the former Wausau Elementary building is back on the market after the “existing offer to purchase the property fell through,” according to a release from the district. The school was closed at the end of the 2024-’25 school year as part of a district-wide restructuring.
Leaders announced a purchase agreement back in July, but did not name the prospective purchaser. Agent Tim Wimmer will once again handle the listing for the district. The current asking price is $550,000.
Grant Elementary was one of four schools that closed. One building was repurposed as a 4K facility. The three remaining buildings (Grant, Hawthorne Hills, and Hewitt-Texas) were put up for sale. Hawthorne Hills and Hewitt-Texas were sold to Christian academies.
