PDC Orenda Center and Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Shelter Coordinator

Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 -- 2:00 PM

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Personal Development Center is a private, non-profit victim services agency providing case management, advocacy, and prevention education to individuals and families in the North Wood County and Clark County area.

Having served the community since 1977, the agency has a history of identifying and addressing needs within an atmosphere of confidentiality and concern and provides a wide variety of services.

I spoke with Lucinda McAley, the Shelter Coordinator at the PDC, and she discussed her role and provided background information about the PDC

Listen to the interview with Lucinda here!

Make sure to tune in each Tuesday for the month of October as we hear from other employees and the services they provide at the PDC Orenda Center.

Lucinda: "My job is to help dispense when they come in. PDC opened its shelter in 2018 to help an unmet need of Marshfield area and surrounding communities, including all Clark County."

"PDC shelter opened to provide a free, confidential, safe and secure place for any victims of intimate partner domestic violence or sexual assault to escape the horrific abuse and conditions they are needing to leave."

"PDC can provide safe shelter and accommodations for a single victim to a large family, eight comfortably or more, if needed. When someone arrives at PDC shelter, they are welcomed by a staff that is kind supportive and understanding throughout their stay at PDC, shelter staff is always available to help meet the needs, their emotional needs, and talk things through well being positive and encouraging growth and independence."

"These same services carry over to the outside community through our 24/7 crisis line, PDC is also able to provide basic needs of anyone who may have to flee without any notice or planning, leaving all their belongings behind."

"We are able to provide food, clothing, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and so much more, all at no charge all because of the funding resources, such as federal funding, state grants, organizations like United Way, Marshfield leadership team, numerous other businesses and organizations, most of all, the generosity of the local neighbor, friend and family member, who donate money, homegrown produce, homemade goods, their time and your generosity and kindness is essential to PDC to continue to provide the same quality care and exceptional resources."

If you have any questions or would like to hear more about these services or ways you can contribute to PDCs needs. Please go to our website, www dot PDC marshfield.org, or call our direct line at 715384297, ones."
