Friday, October 3rd, 2025 -- 2:00 PM
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a minor plane accident Thursday afternoon.
According to a release from the Department, at 2:38pm the Jackson County Communications Center received a call from the FAA in La Crosse reporting that an airplane had landed at the Black River Falls Municipal airport with its landing gear up and they were having difficulty making contact with the pilot.
The Black River Falls Fire Department, as well as law enforcement officers from the Black River Falls Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the airport and found the pilot unharmed.
The plane had, indeed, landed on its belly with the landing gear still up. The plane did not ignite and there was no evidence of any fuel leakage. The aircraft is disabled and, as a result, the runway will be out of service for at least 24 hours.
