Jackson County Sheriff's Department Announces the Passing of K9 Gus

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has announced the passing of their K9 Gus in a press release Wednesday, according to WEAU staff.

According to the press release, in the past several days, Gus appeared to not be feeling well and was taken to the vet where it was discovered he had terminal cancer.

He passed on Wednesday with loved ones and friends at his side. Deputy Mark Moan and K9 Gus have been deployed numerous times for canine trails. Generally, these trails were in an attempts to find missing persons.

In addition to their work as a canine trailing team, they were an active part of the canine unit and could commonly be found at many public events including the Jackson County Fair, Student Government Day and Trunk or Treat events.
