Marathon County Public Library Looking for Names for Their Life-Sized Replica Triceratops
Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 -- 8:00 AM
Did you know that a life-sized replica of a Triceratops dinosaur calls the Marathon Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters (300 N. First St., Wausau) its home?
This ancient friend is looking for a name, and from October 1 through October 25 young patrons all across Marathon county ages 0-18 are invited to enter their own name ideas so we can give our Triceratops its perfect title!
Paper ballots will be available at all MCPL locations, and kids can submit one with their best idea. After all of the entries are gathered together on October 25, the top name choices will then be available for the entire public to vote on during DinoNovember!
To vote, check out our website November 1st through the 15th to submit your choice, or vote in person at any MCPL location on a paper ballot. Once voting closes, the child who suggested the winning name will receive a fun dino-centric prize.
This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7220 or your local MCPL location.
