Two People are Dead After a Crash on Highway 52

Two people are dead after a crash on Highway 52.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Several others were injured. The head-on collision happened at approximately 10:00pm near Forest Lawn Road in the Town of Wausau. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. One person sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Another person was treated at the scene for less significant injuries. No names have been released. The cause of the accident is being investigated. State Highway 52 was closed for about six hours as investigators processed the scene and emergency crews cleared the roadway.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Wausau Police Department, Town of Wausau Fire and First Responders, City of Wausau Fire and EMS, Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Marathon County Highway Department.
