Marshfield Common Council Discusses Request for Qualifications, Budget Requests, and More
Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 -- 12:00 PM

The Marshfield City Council discussed the Request for Qualifications for redevelopment of the current Weinbrenner facility.
At the last meeting, the Council requested that some of the language for the RFQ needed to be “softened” with some items added and/or removed. That was brought back at this meeting and approved at the meeting.
The Council also reviewed funding requests from non-city organizations and to make decisions for inclusion in the 2026 City budget including $53,000 from MACCI for the Business Development Director position and other marketing efforts for the city. And $28,000 for Main Street Marshfield for marketing and beautification of downtown Marshfield. Both requests have been made, and approved by the Council, with past budgets.
The Board also approved a resolution declaring the official intent to reimburse expenditures from proceeds of borrowing for the Braem Park Wet Detention Basin project. They’ll be receiving a $150,000 grant from the DNR and the resolution involves the Clean Water Loan, which needs this resolution so they can get up to 25% forgiveness for the loan.
They also approved the citizen appointment to a 7-year term on the Marshfield Utilities Commission. The Council also heard a report on the list of tasks performed by the Communications Department and options to fill the funding gap facing the department in 2026 and subsequent years. No action was taken on this item.
The Council also heard the success of a development agreement executed in September 2022 for Marshfield Towne Center, formerly Marshfield Mall. Again, no action was taken on this item.
The Council also had the first reading of two ordinances regarding Nonconforming and Substandard Lots and Nonconforming Structures and modifying regulations related to major street setbacks. Again, no action was taken as they were the first reading of the ordinance and they will be brought back at the next meeting for final approval.
In approving the consent agenda, the also approved a handful of items including:
- Exemption from Wood County Library tax,
- 2026 ambulance rate changes,
- 2026 EMS contracts with surrounding municipalities,
- Proposal for replacement of HVA controls,
- 1-year service agreement for Wastewater Treatment Facility,
- 3-year wastewater pump maintenance agreement,
- Agreements for sewer and water design engineering for 2 Vine Avenue projects,
