AGRIBUSINESS CAMPUS DISCUSSED
Monday, December 8th, 2008 -- 11:35 AM
Two Clark County committees will get together on Thursday to try to hammer out a compromise concerning a proposed Agribusiness Park near Owen. The Clark County Economic Development Corporation and the City of Owen have been working on the concept for a number of years.
The acreage surrounding the Clark County Health Care Center would be transformed to include agribusiness parks, an Ag Innovation Center and a site they hope would become the permanent home of Farm Technology Days.
But, they say they need the county?s support.
Meanwhile, the committee overseeing the Clark County Health Care Center has concerns.
Executive Director Jane Schmitz says they want to have final approval on potential tenants, want a say in the sale or lease price of the county-owned land that would be used and don?t want their private well and wastewater treatment facilities affected.
The issues were discussed during an Executive Committee meeting this morning.
The Executive Committee would like a joint resolution from the county?s Economic Development Committee and Health Care Center sub-committee to come to the board during a meeting next Thursday.
