Neillsville School District Administrator Corey Peterson released the following statement Thursday evening regarding a meeting being held this afternoon to discuss yesterday's lockdown incident at the District:

“I'm writing to follow up on the recent lockdown event that impacted our school. We understand that this was a highly stressful and emotional experience for everyone involved, students, staff, families, and the broader community."

"It’s completely normal to feel a wide range of emotions in the aftermath of such an event, and we want to assure you that your safety, well-being, and peace of mind remain our top priorities."

"In support of our community, we will be holding a Community Critical Incident Debriefing session tomorrow evening [today, Friday, September 19th] at 5:30 p.m. in the PIT. This session is open to all members of our school community.”

“The purpose of the meeting is to provide a clear and factual timeline of the events that occurred in relation to Thursday’s lockdown, and to provide resources to support our students, staff, and community."

"Please note that the session will be informational only and focus on supportive, trauma-informed strategies. We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we work through this together."

"If you or your family need additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our counseling, office staff, or administration. Again, that session will be held this afternoon at 5:30pm in the PIT at the Neillsville School District and it’s open to the community."
