Wausau Police Department Investigating Shooting that Occurred in the City

The Wausau Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening on the city’s west side, leaving one man critically injured.

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at about 5:40 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Lazy Creek Way for a report of a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old male resident with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.

This remains an active investigation. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this stage, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
