Could the gray wolf be behind this year?s poor deer hunt?WQOW-TV reports a lot of hunters have been calling the DNR to complains wolves may have impacted their hunt. The overall harvest was down over 20-percent from last year.
Wildlife experts say it's unlikely. They says the state's wolf population is estimated at around 550. Even if each wolf would consume 20 deer, that would only be 11,000 deer; over one-million deer roam the woods.
Still, the DNR says is agrees with most hunters that the wolf should be de-listed in Wisconsin.
