New Mural Set to Go Up in Downtown Marshfield

Thursday, September 11th, 2025 -- 10:01 AM

(Kris Leonhardt, MMC Senior Editor) A new mural is set to go up in the heart of downtown Marshfield, according to Kris Leonhardt, MMC Senior Editor.

“The mural will be painted on the northwest corner of our building at Fourth and Central, visible from the Omaha Parking Lot,” said Mueller Electric Office Manager Karen Mueller.

“The idea for this mural originated from the Main Street Design Committee, part of Main Street Marshfield, which has been keen on adding more murals to the city. I was eager to contribute to this initiative and waited until I found the perfect piece of art that fit our building."

“The design features a lamp, chosen primarily for its interactive potential, allowing people to engage with it while also complementing the building aesthetics and the tenants within.”

Will Yamz from All Above Tattoo Studio will be producing the mural. “He is a local tattoo artist in Marshfield, and his business is conveniently located nearby,” explained Karen. Work is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 12, weather permitting.

“Will start with the outline in the morning, and we hope to have paint on the wall later that day,” Karen added. “We are receiving assistance for this project through the Welcome Back Grant, offered by Main Street Marshfield. This is a 50/50 matching grant program designed to enhance the appearance of alley entrances within the TIFF district.”

Funding is obtained through the Wood County Conservation, Education and Economic Development (CEED) Committee. The city currently hosts several permanent murals on Veterans Parkway North and Veterans Parkway South, coordinated by the American Legion, Leadership Marshfield and Marshfield Utilities, as well as ones in Hardacre Park and on The Kitchen Table building.

Seasonal pop-up artwork by Becky Winter, of I Heart Art Studios, LLC, is sometimes on display in Marshfield storefront windows. For more information on grants or funding programs for the Marshfield Downtown District, visit www.mainstreetmarshfield.com/resources/grant-loan-programs.php.
