One Person Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Jackson County

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Jackson County, according to WEAU staff.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 8, 2025, at about 1:11 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received an automated car crash notification from a cell phone on State Highway 71 near the Monroe/Jackson County line.

Authorities arrived to find a single-vehicle crash. One person was found in the area and authorities attempted live saving measures. The press release says deputies determined the vehicle was west bound on State Highway 71 near Cabin Avenue when it lost control.

The vehicle then went into the ditch and struck a tree. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver is not being released at this time.
