Marathon County May See a Change in Fee Structures
Thursday, September 4th, 2025 -- 9:00 AM
(Michael Crow, WSAU and WAOW) In Marathon County, a change in fee structures may take effect next year impacting both event planners and attendees if approved by the county board.
Accordinng to WAOW and Michael Crow with WSAU, the board directed the parks, recreation and forestry department to increase the fees to help the county’s overall budget.
The increase could be as high as 7.5%. “So we were given the direction to go back and increase our fees. Instead of the 3% we typically done we were asked to increase them 7 and a half percent,” says Jamie Polley, Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Director.
The change in fees will be presented to the county board as part of the budget process. If approved, all fees will be adjusted for the 2026 budget year.
