(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau woman found guilty by a jury in connection with the death of her grandmother was sentenced in Marathon County Court on Wednesday.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Kandise Sheahen faced a three-day trial for felony neglect- causing death, with the potential for increased penalties due to the victim’s age. Investigators say she was mismanaging her grandmother’s diabetes, causing significant health problems.
Concern for the woman’s condition began weeks before her death, with friends and family noting that Sheahen made concerning comments about taking the woman off some medications and replacing others with non-approved supplements.
She was sentenced to a withheld sentence of 6 years of probation, which she won’t have to serve if all conditions of her probation are met including nine months in jail.
